James   Fairs BVSc, MRCVS

Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of Ross University Veterinary Clinic


After graduation from University of Liverpool in 2001, Dr. Fairs spent a year working for The Ministry of Agriculture in the UK during a nationwide outbreak of Foot & Mouth Disease.

Since 2002 Dr. Fairs has worked in a variety of small animal practices across the UK including the largest small animal emergency center in the UK.

Before joining RUSVM as director of RUVC in 2014, he worked for The People’s Dispensary of Sick Animals (PDSA) for seven years. This not-for-profit organization operates 50 small animal hospitals across the UK and is commonly used by veterinary schools in the UK as a teaching resource.

Current Projects

Developing RUVC so it emulates a real-life general practice. Not only will this give students excellent clinical experience but it will also allow students the opportunity to become engaged with the financial side of practice and to appreciate and understand the role practicing veterinarians play in businesses.

Other

James' main areas of interest are in practice management, general surgery and preventive care.
