RUSVM Alumni Advisory Council
The mission of the Alumni Association is to connect, engage, and celebrate alumni, students, faculty, staff, corporate partners, and friends of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM)
The Advisory Council of the Alumni Association is its governing body. It is composed of alumni who reflect the geographic, class year, and career diversity of its alumni. The main role of the Alumni Advisory Council is to act as a liaison between the alumni community and the RUSVM campus and leadership.

Dr. Moses Humphreys (RUSVM 2005)
President of the Alumni Advisory Council
Dr. Humphreys received his veterinary degree from the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005, after completing his clinical rotations at Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, he completed a rotating small animal internship at a busy emergency and referral center in Brooklyn, New York. Starting in late 2010, he and his wife, Dr. Eliza Lischin (RUSVM, 2001) co-founded multiple, One Love Animal Hospital’s in New York City. Dr. Humphreys served on the AVMA Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) Committee for six years. He also was a founding member of the RUSVM Alumni Association and became acting President of the Alumni Advisory Council in 2017.
Dr. Dianne Rey (RUSVM 1999)

Dr. Rey graduated Ross University 1999 and started working in New York, where she stayed for 4 years. She had great mentors, one happened to be a Rossie. She then made her way back to Orlando,Florida and has established herself as a dedicated team member at Loch Haven Veterinary Hospital for the past 14 years. Her special interests are in internal medicine and emergency medicine, but she also has a passion for surgery. About becoming an officer of the Council, Dr. Rey said "I am really excited to be a member of the alumni advisory council and look forward to creating a greater bond between present, past, and future "Rossies".
Dr. Alex Quarti (RUSVM 2007)

Dr. Quarti completeld her undergrad at UCONN and Conn College. She started her career as a professional equestrian and humane officer. After graduating from RUSVM in 2007, Dr, Quarti joined Banfield where she is now Medical Director for Banfield New England South (CT, RI, MA and NY). Dr. Quarti has been the Banfield liaison to Ross University since 2010.
She is also a CVMA board member (Chair of strategic planning committee and member of the government affairs committee).

Dr. Mickey Axelband (RUSVM 1985)
Dr. Mickey Axelband is a veterinarian and the Founder and Chief Medical Officer of the American Veterinary Group. Mickey has practiced veterinary medicine in South Florida for 31 years as a former owner of 3 veterinary practices. He sits on the board of Dezzy’s Second Chance Animal Rescue, a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving the lives of dogs in South Florida. Mickey has been a consultant and speaker for several pharmaceutical companies. He appeared in a weekly “Ask The Vet” TV segment for two years and served as a regular on-air veterinary consultant for ABC News.
Mickey received his undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware. After Delaware, he attended veterinary school in Italy while learning to speak Italian, and travelling throughout Europe. During his time studying abroad, he learned of Ross University, a new vet school getting ready to open. Mickey transferred into Ross and became the very first graduate of the school. Away from work, Mickey enjoys spending time with his wife, their 6 dogs, adventure travel, attending baseball games and flying airplanes.
Dr. JP Carew (RUSVM 2001)
Dr. Jon-Paul Carew gained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Marine Biology in 1997 at FAU, before graduating from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. His clinical year was completed at The University of Georgia. He has been practicing veterinary medicine in South Florida since October 2001. Dr Carew has been working at Bayview Animal Hospital since January 2012. Bayview Animal Hospital is a busy 6 doctor practice in Fort Lauderdale.
Dr. Carew enjoys all aspects of Veterinary Medicine including surgery and exotic medicine. He has a special interest in pain management and anesthesia. He looks forward to being active on the Alumni board and helping potential students in their veterinary career dreams.
Dr. Tyler Long (RUSVM 2004)
Upon graduating from RUSVM in 2004, Dr. Long spent four years in private practice before returning to academia to complete a three-year laboratory animal medicine residency at Stanford University Medical Center.
After his residency he worked in the medical device industry for two years, and again returned to academia at North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine where he currently works as a clinical veterinarian in laboratory animal resources.
Dr. Mark Salemi (RUSVM 1987)
Since graduation, Dr. Salemi joined the staff at Northside Animal Hospital and after 4 years, bought into the practice, becoming a full partner 2 yeas later. He Married Ann Salemi-Yanazzo in 1997 and have 2 children, Marissa 14 and Nicholas 11. He has actively been on the NYC VMA Board from 1995 until present and served as its president in 2002, receiving all awards available from the association except distinguished life service because he was 5 years too young to receive it. He was involved in the care of the search and rescue dogs at ground Zero 911 attacks and subsequently developed, as charter for, and is a present member of, the NYC VERT (Veterinary Emergency Response Team) executive board. He is also presently serving his third term on the Board of Education in his town as well as the Board of Health, Office of Emergency Management and Stigma Free Committee.
Dr. Mike Zareski (RUSVM 2002)
Owner and Clinical Director, "Dr. Mike" Zareski is a 2002 graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to going into private practice, he completed a clinical rotation with Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, and also completed a two-month elective internship at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, focusing on a lifelong interest in aquatic animal medicine. In April 2008, Dr. Mike merged Surfside Veterinary Services with Animal Birth Control spay/neuter clinic to found Western Veterinary Group, acquiring Crenshaw Animal Hospital in June, 2012. As a small animal practitioner, he is accomplished in all aspects of general medicine and surgery.
Born and raised in the South Bay, Dr. Mike graduated from Palos Verdes High School and earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Santa Clara University. He has traveled extensively across the U.S. and abroad, living in Europe, Japan and St. Kitts, West Indies. Most of all, he enjoys sunny days here in the South Bay with his wife, Shanna, daughters Jordana and Hannah, sons Christopher and Drew and their cats, Delilah and King Soloman.
