Commencement Ceremony

We're here to help you plan for walking at our May Commencement Ceremony


The 2019 commencement ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 18. Only Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine graduates will participate in this ceremony.

In order to walk at the Commencement Ceremony, you must:

  1. Complete your Graduation Application via myRoss: more information can be found here
  2. Register to attend and walk in the ceremony: An email with the registration link will be sent before the end of December
  3. Order your regalia: see information below
  4. Arrange travel and lodging

Below you’ll find more information to get ready for your ceremony, including traveling on the day of the event, regalia and other pertinent information. For any additional questions regarding the ceremony or reception, please e-mail: RUSVMGraduation@rossu.edu.

Regalia

  • Caps, Gowns, Etc.

    All graduates are REQUIRED to wear the designated academic regalia in order to participate in the Commencement Ceremony. You must purchase a:

    • doctoral tam
    • gown
    • hood
    • tassel

    This can be done directly through Herff Jones website. After clicking the link, search “Ross University.” Then choose “School of Veterinary Medicine,” choose your degree, and order your regalia via the green buttons at the top. All orders must be completed by April 22, 2019.

Directions & Parking

  • BY CAR

    From south of Coral Gables:

    • Take Florida Turnpike North
    • Take SR 874 exit (#17) on the left toward SR 826/Miami
    • Continue on SR 874 (Don Shula) to 878 East toward South Miami
    • Stay on 878 East until you
    • Merge onto US 1 north via exit on the left
    • Continue on US 1 north to Red Road (SW 57 Avenue)
    • Turn left onto Red Road
    • Take immediate first right turn onto Ponce de Leon Blvd.
    • Continue about 1 mile; Watsco Center is on your left.

    From US 1:

    • Take US 1 North to Red Road (SW 57 Avenue)
    • Turn left onto Red Road
    • Take immediate first right turn onto Ponce de Leon Blvd.
    • Continue about 1 mile; Watsco Center is on your left

    From southwest of Coral Gables, Palmetto Expressway (826)

    • Take Palmetto Expressway North to Miller Road exit
    • Turn right (east) on Miller Drive (SW 56 St)
    • Continue on Miller till the end (San Amaro Drive)
    • Turn right on San Amaro
    • Continue on San Amaro to Ponce de Leon Blvd. (about ¾ mile)
    • Turn left on Ponce and continue half mile to Watsco Center on your left

    From north of Coral Gables, from I-95

    • Drive south on I-95 until it exits onto US 1
    • Turn right onto Stanford Drive
    • Take immediate first left onto Ponce de Leon Blvd.
    • Continue on Ponce de Leon Blvd. to Watsco Center (about 2 blocks on right)

    From US 1:

    • Go south on US 1 to Stanford Drive
    • Turn right onto Stanford Drive
    • Take immediate first left onto Ponce de Leon Blvd.
    • Continue on Ponce de Leon Blvd. to Watsco Center (about 2 blocks on right)

    From Northwest of Coral Gables, from Palmetto Expressway (826)

    • Go south on Palmetto Expressway to Miller Drive exit
    • Turn left (east) on Miller Drive (SW 56 St)
    • Continue on Miller till the end (San Amaro Drive)
    • Turn right on San Amaro
    • Continue on San Amaro to Ponce de Leon Blvd. (about ¾ mile)
    • Turn left on Ponce. Continue one half mile to Watsco Center on your left

    Parking will be readily available and free of charge. Traffic and parking personnel will direct guests on where to park.

  • By Train

    The Watsco Center is located across the street from the University Metrorail Station. Miami-Dade County's 22-mile, elevated rapid transit system runs from Kendall through South Miami, Coral Gables, and downtown Miami; to the Civic Center/Jackson Memorial Hospital area; and to Brownsville, Liberty City, Hialeah, and Medley in northwest Miami-Dade, with connections to Broward and Palm Beach counties at the Tri-Rail/Metrorail transfer station. Metrorail full fare is $2.00.

Graduation Reception

Before you walk on Saturday, the Office of Institutional Advancement & Alumni Relations will be hosting a special reception for you and the rest of the graduates the evening before.
