For almost 20 years, Tina Beck has been a dedicated educator. After receiving a degree in English with minors in Teaching and Theater, Tina started her career in 1994 as a certified middle school teacher in Louisville, Kentucky. After moving to Charleston, South Carolina, Tina worked at a public school for high school students at-risk - a last chance program before students were expelled from district schools. Next, she joined the staff at James Island Charter High School where she served as English Department Chairperson, as well as on the school’s Leadership Team. Tina also became certified to teach Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses in addition to Drama and SAT Prep courses. After earning her National Board Certification (a rigorous program in which the teacher is certified to teach in any state), Tina began developing Horizon Middle Academy, a public charter middle school program. As a result of the experience, she became a consultant assisting other groups with program development, charter acquisition, curriculum and instruction, and teacher training. She then served as an interim teacher at Academic Magnet High School, a nationally ranked program for academically gifted and talented students. She also led a homeschool group and assisted with a private Montessori program while her son was a young child. Tina now lives happily in St. Kitts with her husband, Jamison Beck, and her son, Jacob, who attends Ross Prep.
