Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine Expands its Network

Sep 23, 2016

The University of Witwatersrand (UW) in Johannesburg, South Africa is the third university in the country to enter into an articulation agreement with Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.

The agreement with the Faculty of Sciences advances educational opportunities for eligible UW grads by providing a direct pathway to earning a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

This new relationship reinforces Ross’ commitment to developing opportunities for academic exchange and scholarly collaboration across the globe – bringing an even more diverse learning perspective to the school’s academic program.

“We’re building an international network,” said Carmen Fuentealba, DVM, Ph.D., Executive Associate Dean for Teaching and Learning. “Our affiliation with institutions like the University of Witwatersrand allows us to strengthen our campus community, increase our diverse perspective and enhance the student experience.”

“This articulation agreement represents just one of many ways in which we collaborate with other institutions,” continued Fuentealba. “From student internships and externships to clinical affiliations to pathway programs like this one, we work closely with educational and research institutions throughout the world.”

Eligible UW graduates with a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Animal, Plant and Environmental Sciences or the School of Molecular and Cell Biology will receive preferential admissions opportunities, including waived application fees.

“This is a great opportunity for our students to study abroad and experience an international community as well as obtaining good quality education,” confirmed Frances Duncan, Ph.D., Head of the School of Animal, Plant and Environmental Sciences.

The School of Animal, Plant and Environmental Sciences program concentrates on living things and their interaction with the environment, with emphasis in the field of The Biology of a Changing World: Conserving African Biodiversity. The School of Molecular and Cell Biology focuses on biochemistry and cell biology, genetics and developmental biology, microbiology and biotechnology and applied bioinformatics.

“This is a great opportunity for our students to study abroad and experience an international community as well as obtaining good quality education,” confirmed Frances Duncan, PhD, Head of the School of Animal, Plant and Environmental Sciences.
