We will work with you to find affordable, secure, and clean living environments which meet specific safety standards.

In our search for suitable off campus housing, we consider your student life at Ross Vet school to help:

  • Promote opportunities for you to connect with others.
  • Develop a strong and enduring sense of belonging.
  • Establish an environment rooted in mutual respect and civility where students of varying backgrounds and cultural differences can live and socialize.

We look forward to welcoming you to our community!

Ross Vet Off-Campus Housing

Off-campus student housing on the “Ross reviewed” list meets the following requirements:

  1. Properties have been inspected by Ross Vet security and housing personnel and meet the minimum guidelines for safety and security. The safety features include, but are not limited to, security bars on windows and doors, outdoor lighting, and security cameras. For complete guidelines for “Ross reviewed” properties, contact the Housing Department.
  2. Properties are located in Ross Vet security “patrol zones” and are within a short distance of Ross Vet security in case of an emergency.
  3. Property landlords have proven to be responsive to tenant’s needs and fair in the management of the rental process

Listed properties are reviewed at least once every two years to assure compliance with Ross Vet guidelines. Listings and landlords that do not appear on the Ross Reviewed list have not yet been reviewed or they have been denied listing for non-compliance with Ross Vet’s minimum standards. Properties not on the approval list may be located outside the Ross Vet security patrol zones or present other risks.

You may find your own accommodations through rental management agencies, websites, word of mouth, or other sources, but Ross Vet strongly encourages you to select off-campus housing from the “Ross reviewed” list. Regardless of how the property was found,
you are responsible for diligently evaluating any potential properties, landlords, and roommates.

To assure Ross Vet can be as responsive as possible to student safety, regardless of where students choose to live, having accurate local address information is critical. You are required to submit your local address to Ross Vet and proactively inform the school of any change of address. This assures accurate information on all students in case of an emergency or natural disaster.

Please note that if complications arise between students and landlords—whether or not the property is Ross reviewed—or if there are complications between roommates, those issues are the sole responsibility of the students involved.

Questions about housing policies should be directed to the RUSVM Housing Department.

If no housing options can be found on the Off-Campus Housing Website, under the areas of West Farm, Boyds and/or Camps this means that no housing options may be available at the time of your search. Your next option would be to either continue to revisit those housing locations for a day or two but also begin to expand your search for housing in areas a bit further away from campus, where many other students reside.

Off-Campus Housing Website

The Off-Campus Housing website is available to assist approved/registered Ross Vet students via MyRoss. All incoming students must obtain off campus housing prior to arriving on St. Kitts.

Transportation To and From Housing

If securing an apartment further away from campus, here are a couple of options for transportation until you secure your own:

  • Rossi Shuttle  – Operates 5 days a week (Monday to Friday) and takes you to and from campus only. Students sign-up and pay (weekly rate EC$100 / Monthly rate EC$400) for this service. The bus picks-up and drops-off at points closest to your residence. The morning service starts at 7:00 am and the afternoon shuttle leaves campus at 5:00 pm. If students are not able to make the 5:00 pm shuttle an alternate service is available. Details to follow upon having secured housing.
  • Night Security Shuttle – This service is complimentary. It is available Monday through Friday every other hour from 6:00 pm to 12:00am. The shuttle operates at 7:00pm and 9:00pm service on Saturdays and Sundays. This service takes students to their doorstep.

Orientation Schedule
During new student arrivals and throughout orientation week, scheduled transportation will be provided for the commute to and from campus, and for grocery shopping.

New students should have arranged transportation or signed up for the Rossie Shuttle service by the Saturday before the first day of classes.

BRINGING YOUR ANIMALS

Pets

Students may bring pets with them to St. Kitts, but the animals must meet all importation requirements. Students should also be sure the animal—like the student—has a return airline ticket. Check with the Housing Department to see which units allow pets. Please visit Preparing to Move to St. Kitts for complete information.
