DOCTOR OF VETERINARY MEDICINE
Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine takes a holistic view of the admissions process, reviewing not just grades and test scores, but also giving weight to an applicant’s experience, perseverance, and passion to become a veterinarian.
Applications are accepted leading up our three flexible start dates in January, May and September. Apply year-round here or through VMCAS when the cycle is open.
Academic Requirements
- Completion of prerequisites, a minimum of 48 credits of college work and we strongly recommend that you complete your undergraduate program,
- Completion of the equivalent of 150 hours of veterinary professional experience or veterinary research,
- Official Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores (optional for May 2021, September 2021, January 2022, May 2022, and September 2022 semesters)
- Proof of English proficiency, if English is not your first language, and
- If you are an international or transfer applicant, additional vet school application process requirements may apply.
Supporting Documents
- Official undergraduate transcripts,
- Two letters of recommendation (one academic and one professional),
- Personal essay — you will be asked to answer 3 questions if you are applying through the online application. If applying through VMCAS, the personal statement will be accepted as your essay.
- Official GRE scores released to RUSVM using institutional code 2639 through www.ets.org (optional for May 2021, September 2021, January 2022, May 2022, and September 2022 semesters),
- Optional: curriculum vitae or resume.
- Complete and submit your application with all required documents.
- Upon application review, you may be invited for a personal interview with one of our admissions representatives.
- If interviewed, the committee will review your application and notify you of their decision.
You can apply to start during any one of our three start dates in January, May or September.
If you've submitted your application to veterinary school through VMCAS you do not need to submit a separate application. We'll retrieve your application and all documents through VMCAS.

Postgraduate Programs
ONE HEALTH PROGRAMS
When applying to vet school, the postgraduate admissions committee reviews Certificate in One Health and MSc in One Health applications on a rolling basis, accepting Certificate students for a January, May, or September start and MSc Students for a September start.
Academic Requirements
- Veterinary or medical qualification, or
- Degree or international equivalent in the biological, biomedical, environmental, ecological, or related sciences,
- Proof of English proficiency if English is not your first language
Supporting Documents
- Official transcripts if degree was completed less than 5 years ago
- Proof of graduation if degree was completed more than 5 years ago
- 1 letter of recommendation
- Personal statement (300 words or less) of reasons for wishing to join the program
- MSc in One Health: optional letter of support from your current employer
RESEARCH PROGRAMS
MSc by Research and PhD by Research applications are accepted year-round.
- Candidates may be required to enroll in a Master of Science by Research degree program for a probationary period before converting to the PhD degree program. For PhD candidates, a master’s degree may be required based on the research content of the applicant’s professional qualification or first degree.

When applying to vet school, Ross Vet’s applications are by invitation and will be reviewed in-line with our entry requirements and research expertise. Since we operate under rolling admissions, there are no application deadlines. We continue to accept applications leading up to each start term.

Postgraduate Application
Begin in January, and you may finish 3 months sooner than students who begin in the fall.
Enroll in May and you may be practice-ready 9 months before other accredited schools in the U.S.
Start in September and you may finish 6 months sooner than other accredited schools in the U.S.
