Being on top of your studies as a veterinary student is important, but so is finding a balance, and having a little downtime for yourself—and you can find that, and more if you explore St. Kitts.

With beautiful beaches, historical sites and outdoor activities, you will always find things to do when you need a study break. From diving to snorkeling, hiking, and fishing, St. Kitts and Nevis both offer a variety of activities to take part in.
We’ve included some of the best things to do in St. Kitts and Nevis. A full list can be browsed through the St. Kitts and Nevis Tourism Authorities.
Nevis: Things to do
Nevis is the sister island of the Federation, located a short 30-minute ferry ride from St. Kitts. Nevis is a popular “staycation” spot for both students and St. Kitts residents as it has a quiet atmosphere and a variety of hotels and guesthouses on the island. Nevis also hosts different events throughout the year including the Nevis Blues Festival and the Nevis to St. Kitts Cross Channel Swim.
Nevis Hot Springs
For centuries, visitors have enjoyed the hot springs at Bath Village. Nearby is the Bath Hotel, built in 1778, and the first luxury hotel in the West Indies.
Nevis Triathlon and Nevis Running Festival
Competitors from all over the globe join to compete in the Nevis Triathlon, and Nevis Running Festival, both held yearly.
St. Kitts: things to do
Brimstone Hill Fortress
One of the Top 10 things to do in St. Kitts is the National Park. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site of historical, cultural and architectural significance, and a “must-see” site for both tourists and residents of St. Kitts.
St. Kitts Scenic Railway
“The Sugar Train” offers Ross Vet students (ID required), faculty, and family members the local rate of EC$120.00 to ride the new double-deck trains. These luxurious railcars were built specifically for touring the island of St. Kitts on the tracks of the current working sugar trains. Zip-Line Tours
Offered through Sky Safari Tours, you can zip-line above the St. Kitts rain forest, with a view of neighboring islands and historical sites. Sky Safari Tours can be reached at (869) 466-4259.
Student Clubs and Organizations
As a student, you can join a variety of student-led clubs and organizations that help you connect with the island and the local community. There are also many island events such as local marathons, triathlons, and hashes.
There are plenty of things to do in St. Kitts for friends and family too! Spouses of students who are living on the island can get involved with the Very Important Partner (VIP) Club. The club was established as a support and social group for spouses, partners, and significant others of students attending Ross Vet. Some of the activities planned by the VIPs include weekly volleyball games, hikes, trips, and dinners.
