St. Kitts is a beautiful island of white and black sand beaches, volcanic peaks, and lush tropical vegetation. Ross Vet students will find no shortage of day trips and other experiences beyond the campus and the capital city of Basseterre.
Volcano Hike
Adventurous students have several outdoor challenges on St. Kitts, including the daunting Mount Misery (also called Mount Liamuiga). Trails and climbs scale the 3,792-feet volcanic peak, from which a break in the clouds reveals stunning vistas.
Dining In St. Kitts
St. Kitts—the home of Ross Vet—and its sister island Nevis make up the independent country of St. Kitts and Nevis. Food options on the islands include local Caribbean fare as well as Indian, Japanese, Mexican, and Middle Eastern food. The local style of cooking, which is similar to other West Indian cuisine, features such seafood asconch, rock lobster, and saltfish, as well as such favorites as goat water stew, jerk chicken, and pigeon peas. Fruits and vegetables grow year-round in the tropical climate, and they are always available in the local markets. Water and fruit juices are generally safe to drink in St. Kitts, and bottled drinks are available for purchase at most markets and grocery stores.
Many dining options are available to students on the Ross Vet campus, as well, where breakfast, snack, and lunch items sell for roughly U.S. $5 - $8, depending on the vendor and menu.
Burger Shack — Burger Shack offers items from the grill, including an assortment of burgers and sandwiches.

Rituals Coffee House — Located in the Student Union, Rituals offers a variety of specialty coffees and teas, as well as pastries, hamburgers, wraps, bagel sandwiches, a salad bar, and sushi.
Hours: Monday – Thursday 7 a.m. – 8 p.m., Friday 7 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday – Sunday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Paw Paw — Located in the lower part of campus, Paw Paw offers breakfast and such lunch items as salads, sandwiches, and wraps with a variety of vegetarian options.
Hours: Monday – Friday 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Spice Shack — Located directly across from the amphitheater, Spice Shack offers breakfast and lunch items, including a variety of vegetarian options.
Hours: Monday – Thursday 6 a.m. – 4 p.m., Friday 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Caribbean Eatery — Located near the faculty offices and offers breakfast and lunch daily, with an outside seating patio.
Hours: Monday – Friday 7am to 5pm & Saturday – Sunday 10am to 3pm
Ross Farmer's Market — Ross Vet hosts a variety of local vendors every Wednesday that sell fresh vegetables, meat, bread, flowers, and gelato.

Students can participate in such activities as diving, snorkeling, hiking, and fishing, or you can just sit back and enjoy the tropical beauty of the islands of St. Kitts and Nevis. Student Clubs and Organizations
As a Ross Vet student you can join a variety of clubs and organizations that help you connect with other students, the island, and the local community. There are also such island events as marathons, triathlons, and hashes (social club runs).
There are plenty of things to do in St. Kitts for friends and family too! Spouses of students who are living on the island can get involved in the Very Important Partner (VIP) Club. The club was established as a support and social group for spouses, partners, and significant others of students attending Ross Vet. Some of the activities planned by the VIPs include weekly volleyball games, hikes, trips, and dinners.
