Facts About Our Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) Program
- The preclinical curriculum takes place in St. Kitts and consists of seven semesters (130 semester credit hours) of specifically prescribed course work.
- Students may then begin the final three semesters (consisting of semester 8,9, and 10 – minimum of 45 weeks) of clinical training at one of our affiliated American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)-accredited schools of veterinary medicine in the US, Canada, or other international locations.
- After completing clinical training, students are then eligible to apply and test for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in the US.
In addition, our students have the opportunity to undertake combined DVM/Master of Science (MSc) by Research degree programs, combining veterinary education with postgraduate level research training. Two tracks are available, integrated and intercalated.*
Once you become a vet, people will instantly open up to you as someone who may be able to give some guidance. I’m impressed by how powerful it is as a title. It’s such a powerful statement to say, ‘I’m a veterinarian'– Krista Keller, DVM, Dipl ACZM ('10)
