Dr. Chaoqun Yao received BMed and PhD degrees from Huazhong University of Science & Technology and the University of Georgia, respectively. His postdoctoral training was at Washington State University and the University of Iowa. He held dual appointments as a non-tenure track faculty at the University of Iowa and Research Health Science Specialist at Iowa City VA Medical Center. Afterwards, he was a tenure-track assistant professor at the University of Wyoming with a concomitant appointment of adjunct professor at the University of Washington. He was also the parasitology section head of the Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory at the same time. He joined Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine as an associate professor and now is a full professor.
Dr. Yao’s research interests are molecular pathogenesis and diagnosis, and host-parasite interaction of parasites of medical/veterinary importance and One Health. He has authored over 80 peer-reviewed publications and has reviewed numerous manuscripts for over 70 different scientific journals as an associated editor, an editorial board member, or an ad hoc reviewer. He has organized seven symposia for international meetings including the 14th International Congress of Parasitology (ICOPA 2018).
