Dr Patrick Page graduated from the University of Pretoria, Onderstepoort in South Africa in 1994. Following 6 years in mixed and equine private practice, he returned to the Veterinary Faculty and completed a Residency in Equine Internal Medicine in 2010.
He has completed two periods as Research and Development Manager in the veterinary pharmaceutical industry for Bayer Animal Health in South Africa (2000-2005) and Australia (2017-2021).
Dr Page completed a PhD in 2015 investigating methods for protection of horses in jet stalls against Culicoides biting midges, which are the vectors of African horse sickness virus. In 2021 he returned to South Africa for dual appointment at the Faculty of Veterinary Science as Consultant at the Equine Research Centre and Associate Professor/ Professor in Equine Internal Medicine.
Dr Page’s research interests include equine infectious disease, particularly African horse sickness virus vaccination and control, intensive care and poor performance in horses.
