Hilari French, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Ph.D., DACT, DABVP, has been appointed to the International Council for Veterinary Assessment (ICVA) Board of Directors. The ICVA administers examinations, including the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE) and the Veterinary Educational Assessment (VEA) in over 60 countries. Dr. French’s appointment by the ICVA Board of Directors at their June 2022 meeting is for an at-large position on the board for a three-year term.
A third-generation veterinarian, Dr. French followed in her father and grandfather’s footsteps and was committed to serving at the university level. French, an associate professor of Theriogenology, and department head of the Department of Clinical Sciences, joined RUSVM as an assistant professor in 2013. She focuses her research on immune-contraceptives in wildlife, reproductive dynamics of donkeys in the tropics, uterine health and immune responses, and infectious disease animal models. French attended the School of Veterinary Medicine at Louisiana State University and received her DVM in 2009 and PhD in 2011. She also serves as a research fellow for the One Health Foundation.

Through the One Health program, RUSVM prepares the next generation of public health practitioners, researchers, and other professionals on how to holistically address the public health impacts of complex issues such as climate change, infectious diseases, epidemics, and pandemics both locally and globally.
