From secret service dogs to racehorses, many working animals greatly benefit from physical rehabilitation following injury.

Find out what it’s like to work with these patients during our virtual Sports Medicine Seminar, hosted by Alumnus Dr. Matt Brunke! Dr. Brunke specializes in veterinary sports medicine and rehabilitation, helping pets and working animals recover from joint and muscle trauma, surgery, and more.

This is your opportunity to:

  • Test your knowledge of the different therapies in animal rehabilitation, such as hydrotherapy and acupuncture
  • Learn how to assess signs of progression during recovery
  • Experience a day in the life of a veterinarian specializing in sports medicine
  • Bonus: examine Dr. Brunke’s real-life cases of rehabilitating secret service dogs

Access the webinar by registering below!

About Our Host

Dr. Matt Brunke

Dr. Matthew Brunke is a native New Yorker, growing up in New York City. He received his DVM from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts, graduating in 2004. His first job out of vet school as mixed animal practice, where he saw the benefits of sports medicine in the equine patients and wanted to apply that to small animals.

Moving to small animal practice, he took additional training in the AO Basic Principles Course and the Slocum TPLO Certification. He received his certification in rehab in 2008 from the University of Tennessee CCRP program and now teaches for that program. He completed the practice experience pathway for the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2017 and passed ACVSMR boards in January 2018.

Dr. Brunke is currently the medical director at Veterinary Surgical Centers Rehabilitation in Vienna, VA. As a diplomate of the VSMR college, Dr. Brunke believes in a big picture and practical approach to his patients, and enjoys both orthopedic and neurological cases. When not at work he enjoys running with his dog, Penny.
