Patrick Pithua, PhD, DVM
Dr. Patrick Pithua is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM), with over 15 years of experience in teaching, research, and mentorship in veterinary epidemiology and public health. He previously held tenured faculty roles at Virginia Tech and the University of Missouri, where he taught across DVM, MPH, and PhD programs, focusing on real-world application and One Health approaches.
A Fulbright Scholar and two-time Carnegie African Diaspora Fellow, Dr. Pithua has led training programs in Uganda and Argentina and holds multiple advanced degrees, including a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Minnesota and a DVM from Makerere University. His research tackles global health issues like antimicrobial resistance and zoonotic disease, supported by over $2 million in funding and 40+ peer- reviewed publications.
At RUSVM, Dr. Pithua is passionate about connecting epidemiologic thinking to clinical practice. He actively mentors students and promotes data-driven solutions to health challenges across animal and human populations.
