Rhiannon Horton, BSc, RVN
Rhiannon is a highly experienced Veterinary Nurse who qualified in the small animal pathway in the UK and has a strong professional interest in large and exotic animals. Her career spans a diverse range of clinical environments, including mixed veterinary referral practices treating large, small, and exotic species. She has held various roles across the veterinary sector, including emergency and out-of-hours care, orthopedic referral hospitals, first opinion clinics, sole-charge positions, and locum work throughout the Midlands and South East of England.
In June 2025, Rhiannon joined Ross University as the Lead Large Animal Technician, bringing with her extensive expertise in large animal handling and care. She is passionate about supporting veterinary students and looks forward to supporting them as they develop their clinical skills throughout each semester.
Rhiannon is also a qualified Marine Mammal Medic and was actively involved in the UK’s emergency response network for stranded or injured marine mammals, including dolphins, whales, and seals. One of her most memorable responses was to a Northern Bottlenose Whale stranding—an uncommon event given the species' deep-sea habitat.
Now living in the Caribbean, Rhiannon is excited to join the St. Kitts and Nevis Turtle Monitoring Group, continuing her dedication to marine wildlife rescue and conservation.
