Thea Hewitt, MSc One Health Candidate, Public Health Advocate, LGBTQ+ Ally
Thea Hewitt is a dedicated and versatile professional with over a decade of experience in animal health, administrative coordination, and public health. Currently serving as the Administrative Coordinator at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM), Thea is recognized for her leadership in implementing and managing Provet Cloud, an electronic medical records system used across multiple departments. Her work ensures seamless clinical operations, data accuracy, and effective interdepartmental communication.
Thea holds a BSc in Technical Management and is currently pursuing an MSc in One Health, with a thesis focused on the retrospective study of Lyme Disease and Tick-Borne Relapsing Fever in St. Kitts and Nevis and the wider Caribbean. Her passion for zoonotic disease prevention, public health policy, and climate-related health threats drives her commitment to research and advocacy in underserved regions.
Her career journey includes hands-on roles in veterinary medicine and biomedical research, having served as a Vet Technician Assistant at RUSVM and a Research Assistant at St. Kitts Biomedical Research Foundation (Virscio), where she cared for non-human primates in translational research studies.
A skilled communicator and problem solver, Thea also leads community outreach initiatives, supports training and onboarding, manages pharmacy stock, and contributes to the development of SOPs and clinical protocols. She is passionate about HIV/AIDS advocacy and is exploring the development of local clinics and protocols to support patients in the Caribbean.
