Amy Wieser graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2008 and worked in mixed animal practice in the UK for four years before transitioning to an ECC-focused role at a large referral center. In subsequent years, Amy joined Ross University Veterinary Clinic (RUVC) as a clinician, where she met her husband. The couple later moved to South Island, New Zealand, where Amy worked in mixed animal practice before specializing in small animal medicine.
In 2016, Amy joined the University of Nottingham Veterinary School, teaching students across primary, referral, charity, and out-of-hours settings. During this time, she completed higher education teacher training (PGCHE), achieved Fellowship of the Higher Education Authority (FHEA), and earned a CertAVP with a focus on medicine and emergency care. At Nottingham, Amy took on roles including Program Lead for the BVMBVS degree and lead for written and practical examinations, excelling in both on-campus and clinical teaching. She also consults for other UK veterinary schools, specializing in curriculum design and assessment.
Amy has a passion for teaching and enjoys mentoring students, with a strong interest in Veterinary Education and optimizing teaching environments to support individual learning styles. Clinically, her interests include emergency medicine, general medicine, clinical pathology, acupuncture, and geriatric care.
