Alberto Luque Castro, DVM
Dr Alberto Luque Castro received his DVM degree from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2019. Following graduation, he worked for two years as a farm veterinarian in Aberdeen, Scotland, with a focus on meat-producing sheep and beef cattle. He then completed a residency and Doctorate in small ruminant health and management at the University of Edinburgh and became a Diplomate of the European College of Small Ruminant Health Management.
In 2026, Dr Luque Castro joined Ross University as an Assistant Professor in Food Animal Production Medicine. His primary research interests include mastitis in meat-producing sheep and broader production-limiting diseases in small ruminants. He has a strong interest in veterinary education and student mentorship, integrating clinical practice, flock health, and research into his teaching. In his free time, he enjoys sports such as CrossFit and spending time with friends.
