2026 RUSVM Alumni Awards

Alumni Awards celebrate the remarkable achievements and contributions of our graduates. Award winners will be announced in May 2026.

Nominations and Eligibility 

The RUSVM Alumni Awards annually recognizes the outstanding impact of an exceptional leader, rising professional, and outstanding volunteer. You may nominate a person in multiple categories; however, the selection committee reserves the right to grant an award for which the candidate has not been nominated. Self-nominations are welcome.

Award recipients will be selected by the RUSVM Alumni Action Council. Winners will be announced in May 2026.

Nominees for all awards must meet the following criteria: 

  • Nominees can self-nominate or be nominated by fellow alumni, RUSVM faculty or RUSVM staff.
  • Nominees can be nominated for multiple awards but can only be selected for one.
  • Nominees can be selected for a different award than the original nomination.
  • Nominees must be positive advocates for RUSVM and agree to share their stories and comments for the promotion of the Alumni Community and RUSVM.
  • Nominees must be alumni in "good standing.”
  • Nominations are open to DVM, PhD, and Masters degree graduates of RUSVM.

Award Descriptions And Criteria

Alumni Achievement Award

The Alumni Achievement Award recognizes the success of an alumnus/a who has made significant contributions to his/her profession and industry while embodying the university's purpose, vision, and values.

The award recognizes those who have had extraordinary success in the following areas: professional achievement, community involvement, advancement of RUSVM and its mission, giving back of time, talent, and/or capital and encouraging and inspiring future leaders as well as contributions that have benefited the veterinary community and/or profession.

Award Criteria:

  • Must be a graduate of RUSVM.
  • Display excellence in the veterinary field: clinical, diagnostic, research, public health, regulatory, and/or military service, etc.
  • Attained professional, societal, or community recognition.
  • Be a strong advocate for RUSVM.
Alumni Rising Star Award

The Alumni Rising Star Award recognizes a recent graduate of RUSVM who has achieved early career success while embodying the university’s purpose, vision, and values.

Award Criteria:

  • Must be a graduate of RUSVM within the last 0 – 10 years.
  • Display accelerated career progression and advancement.
  • Meaningfully contributed to the veterinary field: clinical, diagnostic, research, public health, regulatory, and/or military service.
  • Attained professional, societal, or communal recognition.
  • Be a strong advocate for RUSVM.
Alumni Volunteer Service Award

RUSVM alumni play a critical role in the University’s continued success. From supporting admissions activities to engaging with students to rallying alumni support, our alumni impact all aspects of the student life cycle. We are proud to recognize those who are true ambassadors of RUSVM and give back to their alma mater in meaningful ways. 

Award Criteria:

  • Must be a graduate of RUSVM.
  • Support and advocate on behalf of the university.
  • Be highly engaged in RUSVM admissions, student life, and or and alumni programming.

Alumni Achievement Award Recipient: Kimberly Stewart, PhD ’21, DVM ’06

Dr. Stewart is recognized for her substantial work in sea turtle conservation. She is the Founder and Director of the St. Kitts Sea Turtle Monitoring Network, the Executive Director of the Wider Caribbean Sea Turtle Conservation Network, and an Associate Professor of Exotic and Avian Medicine at Ross Vet.

Alumni Rising Star Award Recipient: Tanya Robinson, DVM ’18

In 2023, Dr. Robinson co-founded Robinson 24-Hour Veterinary Hospital, the first emergency veterinary hospital in Nassau County, Florida. Since then, she has demonstrated a passion for providing gold standard care and an emphasis on cultivating a positive workplace environment for her team.

Volunteer Service Award Recipient: Ysabel Wright, DVM ’17, MSc ’20

Dr. Wright has shown significant dedication to volunteerism and community service. She is the CEO of The Veterinary Alliance Center for Accessible Care, volunteered as a speaker at One Health Week 2024 and worked to create connections between Ross Vet, local farmers and the St Kitts Government to improve community well-being.
