WHY START YOUR DVM IN MAY?
May can be an ideal time to start taking steps to pursue your passion for veterinary medicine! Here are three great reasons why.
EARN YOUR DVM SOONER
Starting the Ross Vet accelerated program in May allows students to graduate from veterinary school nine months sooner than students who wait to start vet school the following September at U.S. schools. That means that by starting vet school in May 2025, you can be a DVM as soon as September 2028!
START VET SCHOOL WHEN YOU’RE READY
Ross Vet is the only AVMA-accredited vet school with a May semester intake. This allows you to start earning your DVM when you’re ready—whether you’ve graduated early or have taken a gap year. Beginning veterinary school in May lets you get a head start on your veterinary journey without having to wait until fall.
DON’T LOSE MOMENTUM
You’ve spent years dreaming of a career in veterinary medicine—why wait even longer? Spend your summer in the Caribbean while taking steps towards your DVM. Best of all, you don’t have to give up fun summer activities. St. Kitts offers plenty to do outside of the classroom, including hiking, snorkeling, festivals, and more!
APPLY TO THE ONLY AVMA-ACCREDITED DVM PROGRAM WITH THREE START DATES
Start a DVM program when it makes sense. You lead a busy life, so we’ve adapted our vet school admissions process to meet your needs.
* Students must successfully pass all courses prescribed in the Ross Vet preclinical and clinical curriculum without failing or repeating any courses, and pass the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE) to complete their degree within this time frame. Comparison to U.S. School is based on a traditional 4-year curriculum.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Our DVM program requires 48 college credits, completion of prerequisite coursework, a minimum of 150 hours of veterinary professional experience or veterinary research, two letters of recommendation from a DVM and professor, and a personal statement. A full list of requirements can be found on Admissions Requirements page.
If you are still missing a document or two, you may still submit your application and upload them later.
While we require completion of at least 48 college credits and prerequisite coursework, a bachelor’s degree is not required for admission into Ross Vet’s DVM program.
Ross Vet operates on rolling admissions, so there is no formal application deadline. However, it can take three weeks on average to process an application, interview, and be reviewed by the Admissions Committee. Once a student is accepted, it can also take a couple of weeks to coordinate visa documents, housing, and other important information for the transition to St. Kitts. Because of this, we recommend submitting your application as early as possible to ensure a seamless admissions process.
The GRE is highly recommended, but not required for Ross Vet applicants. Applications that include the GRE, regardless of GRE score, will be given priority in the review process.
May 2025 students will arrive in St. Kitts the weekend of April 26, 2025. Your orientation week spans from April 28 – May 2. This is when you will meet your fellow students, faculty, and staff, and will get the chance to explore your new island home and get checked-in for your classes. Classes begin on Monday, May 5.
The first 2.25 years of our accelerated DVM program are completed on our campus in St. Kitts. After that, you will complete one year of clinical experience at one of our 30 AVMA-accredited clinical partners in the U.S., Canada, or abroad in the U.K., Ireland, Australia, or New Zealand.
